Dan Strodel
On January 5, 2011, Dan Strodel was sworn in as Chief Administrative Officer of the U.S. House of Representatives.
The Chief Administrative Officer is elected every two years when the House organizes for a new Congress. Strodel has held the position since July 2010.
Strodel heads an organization charged with carrying out administrative functions for the House, including operating budgets, financial management, procurement, payroll and benefits, information technology, office equipment and furnishings, cyber security, and broadcast services. The office of the CAO was created in 1995 during the 104th Congress.
Strodel brings to the job broad government management experience.
Most recently serving as a senior advisor to the Committee on House Administration (CHA), Strodel's House experience includes positions with the Office of the Clerk, the Office of the Sergeant at Arms and the CAO. Strodel's more than 25 years on Capitol Hill also include work with the Senate Sergeant at Arms and the U.S. Capitol Police.
Strodel has a law degree from the Catholic University of America and a bachelor's degree from Hobart College.
The Office of the Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) provides operations support services and business solutions to the community of 10,000 House Members, Officers and staff. The CAO organization comprises more than 600 technical and administrative staff working in a variety of areas, including information technology, finance, human resources, acquisitions, and logistics.
